De Klimmende R\u00e8gg\u00e2hs was nominated by Pieter van Reisen<\/p>\n\n

7 years ago, the 4 of us participated in the Alpe d’HuZes, Mandy and I, along with Boukje and Ruud. Earlier, in 2013, Mandy and Boukje rode for Boukje’s father, who had died of cancer. In 2017, with the death of my mother, we also had another good reason to join the Alpe d’Huzes to support cancer research.<\/p>\n\n

Alpe d’HuZes, a wonderful event where a lot of money is raised for KWF, where everyone’s stories are terrible and wonderful, where the togetherness is great, and the sporting achievements impressive. <\/p>\n\n

One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. Cancer affects us all. Whether you have it yourself, or someone you care about, cancer disrupts your life. Fighting cancer and paying attention to the cancer patient are very much needed.<\/p>\n\n

Alpe d’HuZes was founded with the aim of turning the powerlessness that comes with cancer into strength. 100% of donations to Alpe d’HuZes\/KWF Fund<\/a> are spent on scientific research into cancer and improving the quality of life of people with cancer.<\/p>\n\n

I did it one year, Mandy did it two years, but \u201cDe Klimmende R\u00e8gg\u00e2hs\u201d (DKR) have been doing it for 15 years. Every year training for this, every year raising money, every year organising more and more events to raise as much donation money as possible for the KWF.<\/p>\n\n

With a group of friends, we have been going to the dinner, the party night, the pub quiz, all organised by DKR for years now and so we help by just having a fun evening. But they organise everything, get the sponsors, organize that suppliers cooperate for free, and put all their free time into it. All do it for their own reasons. That’s how they were able to raise more than 140,000 euros for Alpe d’HuZes and the KWF in 2024.<\/p>\n\n
