The Seed Fund has been nominated by Heather McEwan.
Born into poverty — but poverty is not their destiny.
As a teacher, I have seen firsthand how empowerment through education can transform lives, especially for children. Education gives every child the opportunity to dream, to grow, and to reach their full potential. Most of us were fortunate enough to attend school and to send our children to school. But imagine where we would be today without that support, stability, and opportunity.
Why this matters
In South Africa, 13 million children grow up in poverty, facing limited access to education, daily nourishment, and supportive community structures. Many begin school already at a disadvantage, and far too many never complete their education.
But there is hope.
And this is where The Seed Fund is transforming the lives of children and women in the Malacca Road community in Durban, South Africa.

What The Seed Fund Does
For the past eight years, The Seed Fund has been deeply embedded in the community, creating meaningful and lasting change. What began as a small homework club in 2017 has grown into a thriving centre of learning, empowerment, and possibility – giving children the foundation they deserve.
Their initiatives include:
- Early Childhood Education
- School Support & Literacy
- Education Sponsorships
- Nutrition & Food Security
- Women’s Empowerment

Why Your Support Matters
There is incredible potential within every child and every woman. The Seed Fund’s mission is to inspire hope and empower dreams – but they rely on volunteers and donations to continue this work.
Your donation means:
- A child receives a nutritious meal today
- A learner gets the school supplies they need
- A mother gains valuable income-generating skills
- A young mind learns to read, write, imagine, and dream
Thank you for your generosity.
Together, small actions grow into powerful change.
